Jardin du Lac (Lake Garden)
Nestled amongst other 1 hectare blocks with grand homes and pristine gardens you’ll find the humble lifestyle property of Marc Danzer (from Switzerland) and Adele Bentley (a Kiwi), self-declared accidental and novice gardeners, ex-city people who wanted ‘space’.
Adele and Marc have been breathing life back into this almost derelict property since they purchased in 2021. This tranquil semi-rural location on the edge of town boasts a pond and a lake, abundant birdlife, mature trees, and opportunities a plenty.
Jardin du Lac
(Lake Garden)
14 Milford Downs
Lansdowne Masterton
Mostly accessible, toilet (gold coin), food/coffee cart, market (cash), picnic area
On this property is the original source of a waterway leading down through Lansdowne to the major tributaries, so riparian planting has been taking place around both the lake and pond to ensure the water leaving the property is in the best possible state of health.
Nearly all of the new plants on the property have been grown from seeds and cuttings with a big focus on natives and edibles, especially herbs and microgreens.
Not just a garden to view, especially for Pūkaha there will be a small French ‘brocante’ market and remakery selling quality new, re-made, and pre-loved homewares, toys and clothing and plants.
Marc will have his French crepe trailer set up and ready to serve alongside a basic coffee service with plenty of places to sit and relax and enjoy the views. Ten per cent of all proceeds will be donated back to Pukaha.
