Dianne’s Garden
Her garden not only focuses on form but also scent – roses, daphne, flowering currant and philadelphus flowers provide the sweet florals while rubbing peppermint and rose geranium will leave your hands smelling sweet for the rest of the day.
9 Wyndham Street, Carterton
A modern-day cottage garden (with more straight lines than curves) filled with old-fashioned and unusual perennials – bearded irises, penstemons, salvias, alstromerias and geraniums, you’ll also find old-fashioned roses such as Graham Thomas, Charles Darwin, Charlotte, The Wedgewood, Gruss An Aachen and Mary. Dianne enjoys floral art so there is plenty of variety all year round for picking.
Dianne’s gardening philosophy is “I do what I can, Mother Nature’s magic does the rest!” only spraying and watering when really necessary. Dianne has built this garden from scratch for herself, from the decision to put in the front pergola and contend with the weeding over mowing the lawn. A decision she says has paid off in droves as the gardens are always bursting with colour in every season, attracting birds and bees and providing a haven for Dianne to enjoy.
Dianne has propagated some of the plants in her garden for sale.
